    Creative 702

The "dusk shoot" was last night. I think it went fine, we'll wait & see what arrives on email for approval.

I've bought myself a bit of time as the first open isn't until next Saturday. So today I plan to work on a little bit of stitching just for me. It will be worked in DMC 702 which is just about my favourite colour at the moment.

    Embroidery on thrifted/opped sheeting.

I was lucky enough to pick up a big pile of hospital weight sheets from the Op Shop a couple of years ago & I'm still working my way through it.

Thanks all for playing along so nicely last week & I look forward to catching up with you.

Don't forget to pop in & add your link if you're playing along this week.

Just as an aside...learning to touch type was the very best thing I ever did.

  • This girl is tier one...

    This girl is tier one...

she is enthusiastic, engergetic, contagious, beautiful & just plain good. Best of all she is related to me! Yay!

Just back from Brown Owls - tonight was super good. So much good stitching & chatting & lounging & laughing & tea drinking & socialising & learning & sauso stitching & baby showering & FUN!

If you haven't been to a meeting you should come & see for yourself just how lovely it is. There is a night especially for Tweenies on Tuesday 18 March - so do yourself a favour & book.

Make sure you check our Flickr in the morning - the PIParazzi was in full click, snapping shots of unsuspecting crafters.

  • Learning from the master(s)...

    Learning from the master(s)...

I do find the idea of sheets on a line as window furnishings quite charming & I think that these curtains would look gorgeous in right here.

However, I'm after something a bit more permanent for the new house. So today I signed up for a window furnishing course...super excited. If I'm going to do it I want to do it right. Pippa has all the know how & I've promised to be good & do my homework. Hoping I'll be able to make roman blinds for the kids' rooms (at the very least).

I'm pretty keen never to go back to an office job again. I shared this with Aunty Pat recently & she replied...

    "Money saved is money earnt"

    Thinking about this a lot.

  • Where it all began...

    Where it all began...
    Knit

was with the sticks. I learnt from my dear grandmother. The quick movement of her hands was inspiring & something I could never master. The painfully slow & awkward way I manipulated the needles & the yarn was too much for me & I concentrated my creative activities elsewhere.

I'm going to rectify that this year. I shall be spending a couple of hours each week with my Great Aunt learning how to do it "right".

Casting on with my thumb beautifully now & I've got the pointer finger flicking like a pro. No more of this hand off the needle & swing around with the yarn for me.

Once I've practiced my technique a bit more (& solved the problems of the world over cups of tea with Auntie Pat), I'm going to make this. Oh yes I am...just you watch me.

    Tipnut
I think we all have them, those mile high piles of household tips and life hacks that we’ve collected over the years. They’re messy, disorganized and once they’ve been ‘filed’, those tips are nowhere to be found again.

TipNut.com isn’t anything fancy. It’s simply my way of putting together all the cool tricks I’ve accumulated over the years into a simple, searchable, online filing box–this website. Some of them I’ve tried, some of them I don’t know if I’ll ever try. But I do know they’ll be here if I need them–and I’m happy to freely share everything with you too!

She got the hang of the chaining OK but can't manage the yarn as well. I'm trying to fashion a table top accessory to hold the yarn for her.

  • The Bluebird...

    The Bluebird...

My "Bluebird of Happiness" sheet music arrived today.

I've been trying to track down the music that used to fill this little figure. After much googling I think that perhaps it actually held "Zippity Do Dah" (which I'm a little bit disappointed about). The lyrics to the Jan Peerce music are quite beautiful. Despite learning the Violin for 6 years I can't play now OR read music! I need to pay a visit to my sister in law.

I've also been enjoying this little recitation that appears at the end of the music.

Things are very quiet around here...three sick kids have slept the day away! I'm guessing it's just a matter of time...

    Liberty pins on cuff

Not such a huge leap was it?

Just a whole lot more stylish with the matching pins. I'm having such a lot of fun with these. Perhaps I need to fashion a bag & hat or maybe a pair of shoes to really set the ensemble off...

I'm on a HUGE learning curve with the new computer. My old laptop is a genuine dinosaur and the new machine really needs a licence to drive! I'm back on the old girl uploading pics & posting. Nothing's saved on the new slick number yet but really the making is more appealing.
