Seriously love this. I wonder if Len might have been a frustrated electrician? I love the fact that these lights were strung in such a temporary way & yet they are hard wired and appear to have been in situ for at least a couple of decades.

Things to love about this shot...
    -yellowed masking tape
    -vintage christmas lights
    -glitter
    -woodgrain contact used as wallpaper
-christmas in July (all year, every year for that matter)

    Happy weekend.

    Rings1

These rings are both very special to me.

The little gold band was given to me by The Date 19 years ago. We'd been "going out" for five weeks and he gave it to me on the night of my Year 12 formal. I had the ring resized when we became engaged so that I could wear it on my little finger. I love it so much because he chose it and because it symbolises the very beginning of "us", when we were just kids.

The ball of wool was given to me by the very clever Victoria Mason. I've been lucky enough to spend some time with Vic in her studio. Seeing exactly how much work goes into each piece just makes me love her jewellery more. Every single step in the creation of her pieces is taken with love. Victoria only makes pieces of items that are special to her and her workmanship and dedication to her craft is awe inspiring.

The ball of wool is a must have for the yarny crafter in your life. She is giving away one ring & one necklace on her blog. Quick...it could be you. Click.

Love heart lollypops don't taste fabulous but I love them because they are so cute.

Spreading the love is what it's all about at this time of year & these little babies surely put a smile on your face & a little glow in your heart.

The added bonus being that they don't taste minty. They taste just as a red lolly should.

  • NOT my blue...

    NOT my blue...

    period.

Of course, I'm no Picasso but I figure I'm entitled to a little red influence.

I've been obsessed with all things red for quite some time.

This friendship quilt is what really began my love affair with red.

It was made as a parting gift for my Great Grandmother when she left Canada in the 1920's. It was my Grandfather's bedspread as a child & I am now the custodian of it! It is my most treasured item. When I was growing up it lived in a trunk at the end of my Mum's bed. I used to get it out & run my fingertips over the stitches. So much history & so much love.

I'm determined to have a crack at some redwork in the next couple of months. I just love it.

Welcome to my Red Phase (not being called a period for obvious reasons). I'll be sharing lots of red goodness over the next few days.

The "worst" house in the best street. It's a very posh street in Canterbury & all the other houses are quite beautifully kept. I love this place.

I'm feeling heartily sick of myself & kootoyoo in general.

I feel I need a distraction & with the kids on holidays for the next couple of weeks I think it's the perfect opportunity to down the craft tools & pick up the camera. I'm noticing stuff (& hopefully I'll have the camera ready when I do).

Not all the good stuff can be clicked mind you ... on Saturday morning the kids & I actually saw the end of a rainbow. This has never happened to me before - it was magical & amazing. I shan't be sacrificing these noticings digging around in my bag for the camera.

If you feel like noticing some stuff right along with me...feel free. I'd love to have some company.
