Sweet Fabric [experience of last life

    My creative space...
    slow burn

It's all about the slow burn projects at my place at the moment. I've got the white quilt, a bit of stitchery, the car crochet & a bit of knitting. There are also quite a few projects that have been put on the back burner waiting for more time.

I think perhaps a few too many things on the go - meaning I'm getting no where fast with any of them...sigh.

  • A Grand Plans

    A Grand Plans
    smile

The latest Op Shop haul & my end-weaving-in-needle (which I had to search the entire house for). I've grand plans.

The most exciting thing in my creative space today is this! I've grand plans for her too.

We're going for a little drive today which I'm very excited about... maybe lunch at The Heads Diver Dan's?

Have a fabulously creative day you lot!

Don't forget to add your link if you're playing along this week.

    Hydrangeas

The convent is located at 1 St Helliers Street Abbotsford in Melbourne.

More information about how to get there here.

What better venue to have our quilt stitched by (mainly)women displayed than at the convent?

If you've been following the project & you're available on the 23rd we'd love to see you.

Just RSVP by replying to my RSVP comment on this post or if you're shy you can email.

The Quilt Project site will be launched on this evening also & will be live on the 24th of October.

  • The Hrarts

    The Hrarts

In the laneway on the way to pick up my coffee this morning. I didn't touch it - I hope it made someone else smile.

    They are popping up everywhere.

Do you know where this laneway is?

    My creative space...

It looks just like a baby chick doesn't it? It's not though. It's going to be part of a little embroidered piece I'm working on.

We are all about the colour at the moment...colour for fences...& excitingly colour in the garden too. I'm going out to the nursery with Trace to check out plants this morning.

    Mucho excitement.

  • I see red...

    I see red...

I was actually looking for blue stuff for my sister but this DIVINE set of mixing bowls had my name all over them.

Op Shop visits have been few & far between over the summer but I was well rewarded on my sneaky stop over the other day.

I confess that the red kitchen collection is getting a little out of hand but what's a girl to do?

Happy weekend lovely folk. Hoping that the Op Shops are good to you & Camberwell's Trash & Treasure is good to me. I do love a bargain.

PS: If you'd love a bargain of the fabric kind you'd better quick click here. It's the very last day of Aunty Cookie's super sale.

  • Making it home...

    Making it home...

I've banged on before about how I've lived my life on Map 46. I was born on the map, grew up on the map & married a boy from the map. Both our siblings live close by & we spend a lot of time with our families.

It was a tearful farewell when my sister & her husband made the move to Darwin 5 years ago. We've visited often & they came back each Christmas. I thought they'd never come "home".

The decision to move back was made swiftly and definitely.

They've moved into a gorgeous house (just a stone's throw from us) & I've been helping to get them settled in. She's done a sensational job of decorating on-a-shoestring. I finished off the family room with half a dozen cushions made from Warwick Fabric samples which serendipitously pull everything together.

It feels like she never left. I'm so grateful that she's made it home.

  • A bit of a nudge...

    A bit of a nudge...
    for patrick

Just look what the big girl made for her tiny cousin!

I can't believe how beautifully it's come up.

She was reluctant to try something new but once she started playing around with the fabric it came together very quickly.

All about the speed she certainly wasn't interested in the quilting so that was outsourced (to me).

She's enormously proud of it so I think the next one will be quilted entirely "in house".

  • Patchwork paving...

    Patchwork paving...

FINALLY there's a bit of action on the landscape front.

I had a picture of the type of thing I wanted in my flickr favourites but this is so much better than I could have imagined. I can't wait until the "sashing" is planted. Just hugely exciting really.

I'm going in search of an outdoor table top this arvo & then catching up on some creative spaces from yesterday.

    Happy weekend lovely folk. x

    My creative space...

Taking a few slow & small stitches. I've been procrastinating with this one for far too many months!

It's light & airy & delicate and it seems lately I've been more about the speed so this has been "back-burnered" more than once.

Time to get on with it.

  • I actually made something...

    I actually made something...

    I've eased myself in slowly.

The style was was limited by my fabric choice (just one flour sack).

The bag is lined for strength. I had a bit of fun with the raw edges and the stray threads & an Op Shopped suede belt was hacked into & fashioned into a bag strap.

    Slouchy & casual & fun.
