If you've clicked through to kootoyoo... you'll notice I've done a bit of housekeeping. I'm still working on it & I plan to update my pitter patter & my rainbow lists regularly. Like most of my cleaning it'll take me a while to get everything just right - very much a work in progress.
Part of the cleanup involved setting up a "reader". Smart guy & a couple of other lovely folk have suggested google reader but he's the guy I dumped so harshly a few weeks back.
I'm dating the Flock feed. It's working for me at the moment but it's early days & I still haven't added everyone I need to...we'll see how we go.
Once again my little strip oppy has delivered the goods.
I can't wait to cook something really tasty in my:
Figgjo Flameware DECOR: TOR VIKING in VULCANUS QUALITY FOR GAS AND ELECTRICITY Made in Norway
A quick scan of eBay advises that it's from 1973. I'm sure it has never been used. I wonder if the beautiful bride who was given this on her wedding day felt about it the way I felt about my cut crystal....shudder.
The spools of DMC also made my heart flutter.
When my gorgeous neighbour first taught me to stitch, my first lesson was spent on "the housekeeping rules of stitchery". The first rule being that you must ALWAYS wrap your embroidery floss to avoid tangles & wastage. I have a set of floss cards but I think these spools look so much nicer.
Last of all a reel of stitching bling. I really love just a teeny tiny bit of stitchy bling.
First things first, let's get the housekeeping out of the way. Here are the contents of my packages from yesterday.
These beautiful necklaces from Chocolate & Steel. How cute is her receipt - a little paper plane.
Some of Lara's fabric. I'm looking forward to making something special with these.
Finally a not photoworthy little book which I purchased online & I'm pretty excited about.
And now about the 30 days...
I have gained so much from this 30 day gig. I'm pretty much a head down bum up kind of girl & I really thought that having this blog had made me "stop & smell the roses".
The 30 days proved me wrong. I've found myself really taking stock of what & who is around me & valuing & appreciating the hand I'm playing at the moment. It's a good life - even when it feels a bit out of control. I'm so lucky & I'm really focussing on living my life to the full & making the most of every minute.
I read this interview with Kristi Arnold on Design for Mankind during my 30 days & I wanted to share this snippet...
Best advice anyone ever gave you? K: Don't wait for opportunities to come to you. Seek them out, create your own options. I think a lot of people get stuck in places...waiting for something big to happen...then 10 years pass by and they are still in the same place, wondering what happened.
The Date & I have been very hard at work on the old place this week.
There hasn't been much time for crafting of any sort. I am making sure I get in a bit of instant gratification stuff along the way & this thrifted table cloth is part of a refashion I've got going on for our bedroom in the new place.
You can visit my favourite space from last week right here.
HOUSEKEEPING: Did you notice that I've dropped the blogspot? Can I trouble you to take a moment to update your reader & links please? Thank you.

I haven't been doing very much in the way of creating this week. I've been doing lots of preparing though...
planning, decluttering, thinking
This upturned chair is part of one of the crafty plans I've been working on in my head.
Also included in this image: more stackers, a lovely gocco which may look familiar to some of you & a photo reminder that the Melbourne Girls are really very special.
Housekeeping: Just a reminder that if you're playing my creative space you should post & then pop into this post to include your link in the auto link list. This makes it super easy to get around & check out everyone else's posts for the week. You need to make sure that your link is right...I fixed up a few last week but I won't be able to do that every week.
Mr Linky reminds you to leave a comment but please don't feel you have to. It's just to make sure that the player list is current - it's not for comments.
I think I'm done with the housekeeping at kootoyoo for a while.
I've refreshed the side bar & you'll find that the regulars are there as well as a few people I'm shouting drinks for. The shout list will updated through the month. There are some really lovely links there already.
I'm sharing this pic of the smallest to help explain the love of the granny square. This image really is an archive - she's a big(ish) girl now.
Some of you may have heard this story already - if that's you feel free to find some fresh content in the sidebar (I've been inspired by Pip's recent housekeeping & done a bit of my own).
So...on with the story. We were given two bunny rug size granny blankets when the big girl was born.
I was unimpressed to say the least. Crocheted from Patons Feathersoft - I thought that they were pretty yick. Consequently they were used only to keep the lovely woollen blankets firmly tucked around our sleeping babes.
The smallest ferreted them out of the side of the cot when she was about 6 months old and she and the "Hucky" have been inseparable ever since.
Now, thanks to Brown Owls (& a good friend) I'm totally up to speed on the Granny Square.

Today I cleaned the website. I pitched a lot of stuff out & then I added shops for swizzle rings & music boxes.
I've still got a bit of "mr sheening" to do but all in all I'm quite happy.
Then I figured that this space probably needed a bit of a wash behind the ears too.
The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence isn't it? After I visited Nadine's beautiful space I knew I needed a little bit of what she was having. I enlisted the help of this tute & this one too & my blog has had a bit of tarting up.
Finally back online! It seems our disconnect had nothing to do with storms & everything to do with the Foxtel guy. Apologies for not popping in to say g'day last week.
In the space this week I have the beginnings of a custom music box order. It's really all about the music box at the moment...I've got 5 on the go this week. I've really enjoyed the stretch with this one. I've used a comination of water colours & freehand machine embroidery to achieve the look that the customer was after.
Visit my favourite creative space ever right here. It's a really special one...go...go...go.
Just a little housekeeping note...I've ditched JS Kit. I'd received a number of emails from people having trouble loading the site & more & more of you seem to be having trouble commenting so I'm back to bloger which in my opinion is just about the worst commenting system going around. We'll see how it goes. I think I'll miss the chat.
Don't forget to pop in & add your link if you're playing along this week.
Hey folks if you've been over to this little patch lately you'll notice I've been doing a bit of housekeeping on the blog. Just hoping that you'll consider updating your sidebar & reader feeds to...
