    The low down on commenting...
    JS Kit

I use JS Kit comments on kootoyoo.

I know that a few people have problems with JS Kit & have had trouble with their service. Personally, I have had positive dealings with JS Kit support & am keen to continue with this system of commenting. Mainly because I think that the blogger comment system is less than ideal.

    Why I like it...

-I like that I have the option/ability to respond to each comment.
-I like that if used to full advantage I can click directly to a commenters site.
-It's made me engage more with the folks that do leave comments on this site & afterall that's what it's all about eh?

I think that JS Kit is most beneficial if you actually sign up to it. It doesn't cost anything to register with JS Kit. They have a strict privacy policy & the site owner (me) doesn't actually have access to your email address...

-Then you have the option to receive my responses (or those of other commenters via email).
-You can add a number of sites where people can visit you. It actually lists the name of the site so that people know where they are heading.

There are other options for logging in to leave a comment which are all fine but you may not see the benefits that I describe above.

Anyway, I just thought that I would include a how to as it seems a few people are stumped &/or confused when it comes to commenting using JS Kit.

    ...

I've said something or shown something that you'd like to make a comment about...
    Click "comment"
This box will pop up. If you want to comment as a guest (& you don't have a blog) that's fine...just try to remember to type your name in the guest box so I know your name.
    <

    JS Guest Edit

    OR
you can sign in using one of the following in the drop down under the "From"
Here's where you would choose "Blogger" or "my other site" or "JS Kit" . If you choose "Blogger" or "my other site", you still need to type your name where it currently says "Guest". You can also choose to upload an avatar but you won't receive email responses.

    JS Sign In

To get the most out of your comment...
sign up to JS Kit (you only need to do this once)

    JS New Account

If you do that your comment will look like this. I know it's Tania from Myrtle & Eunice before I even click. I recognise her icon (& I'm pretty glad she's stopped by). I can hover my mouse over Tania's name & I've got the option to visit her on her site if I like. You know I'm gunna because I'm loving what she's got to say & she's made it super easy for me. You should probably go & visit her too. She's good!

    JS Tania

If you sign up to JS Kit you also have the option to change your avatar from your "comment box".

I hope this was helpful & I hope it might make commenting on kootoyoo a more valuable/fun experience.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  • Knowing your limitations...

    Knowing your limitations...

You've got to know when to hold them....
    Know when to fold them...
    Know when to walk away...
    Know when to run...

OR just because you "can" doesn't mean you should!

I made this little guy for Craft Hope found via Loobylu.

The idea really touched me & I so wanted my doll to be utterly gorgeous & super squishy & cuddly. In an effort to make him "perfect" I decided to follow a pattern (this was mistake number 1). His arms & legs are way too long & his head is way too small & I had to stuff him too firmly so that his neck didn't flop. The only thing I like about this doll is his hair treatment which I made up!

My second mistake was using super soft expensive looking (but op shop purchased) stretch fabric which I then had to retrospectively interface! YIKES.

My obsessive, competitive nature won't allow me to be beaten (I prefer to think of it as "never say die").

I know I should run & leave this sort of thing to super clever people who actually have some talent (& for the time it's taken me I'd have been better purchasing from them & posting):

    Jhoanna :: her shop
    Fiona :: her shop
    Victoria :: her shop
    Michelle :: her shop

I've already cut out & interfaced & started the embroidery for my "no pattern" doll. I really hope he works!

    The best $15...

    we have ever spent.

It's an ice crusher purchased from Go Low. This little baby crushes ice perfectly for all our favourite drinks.

Enjoying lots of icy drinks tonight with the family which will be lovely. Looking forward to 2008 with anticipation. So stinking, ferally hot today & I'm hoping the icy drinks improve my grumbly mood.

I hope that your farewell to 2007 is cool(ish).

Mousies' Marriage is a lovely little story & the illustrations are all gorgeous. I remember some time ago Natalie had illustrations from the book Frisky & Smutty. It's the same illustrator.

More flaming basketball this week! I've had enough.

I have packed a craft kit which you can see here. But what I'm leaving in my space this week is the negative space from the circle cutting. I have a plan for it...just hope it works.

I'm just all about the hook at the moment. I'm mucking around with this gorgeous blue trying to get the right hook to yarn ratio. BUT I have been seriously side tracked by some lovely brown Rowan Tapestry which I started a sample square with & it's now grown to almost scarf proportions. I hope they've got some more at Sunspun (if they don't it was always meant to be a scarflet).

For those of you who know about the brown granny disaster of '09 please pick yourselves up off the floor. I'm loving the brown again. x

As for the poor granny shrug that's also on the hook - it's been temporarily sidelined.

    Hello!

    I hope you've had a gorgeous weekend.

Melbourne has turned on another rainy miserable day today. The girls & I have spent the day in the craft room though so I'm not complaining.

I'm wondering if you might be able to help me out? I would really like to know your very favourite foodie blogs.

If you're a reader of cooking blogs please leave your recommendations in the comments.

    Thanks muchly in advance.

    See you tomorrow.

    Words & pictures...cold feet

It’s 11pm. I’ve been walking for 15 hours and I can feel the tears welling in my eyes again. I wasn’t prepared for how emotional this experience was going to be.

The soup I forced down an hour ago is making me feel sick and I wish I was home in bed. I’m painfully aware that I’ve only walked about 3 kilometres in the last hour and am trying to calculate in my jumbled mind how much longer it will be until we reach Mt Evelyn Reserve.

I’ve no idea where the rest of my team is, I’m just following the person in front and hoping that it’s Viv. The team thing is driving me insane, I just want to run ahead and make it be over. Of course, that’s not in the spirit of the event so I trudge on and hope that none of the others want to chat. I’ve got nothing to say and I’m worried that if I have to talk I’ll burst into tears.

The rain is absolutely bucketing down. The Gortex jacket has been pushed beyond it’s capability and I’m soaked to the skin. I think it’s about 2 degrees and I can’t even imagine how cold it must be at the top of Mount Donna Buang. I’m aware that I can’t feel my lips, nose, fingers or toes. The pungent smell of soaked wool and sweat is overpowering and serves to reassure me that I do still have a nose.

I wriggle my toes in my hiking shoes. They are completely numb, I imagine that they must look like little prunes. With each step my socks squelch and the skin around my heel squeaks. I’m so thankful that the support team made me change out of my Asics. At least these shoes have got a bit of grip in the wet.

Each outward breath hits the light of my head torch and the rain. Until it clears I can see nothing. I’m just concentrating on putting one foot in front of the other.

I imagine that every corner we round will be the last and am longing for the twinkling lights of the Checkpoint. I’ve only walked this section in daylight and my memory has failed me. I’m getting used to disappointment.

    step…squelch...squeak…step…squelch…squeak…step…squelch…squeak

    CreativeSpace Flowers & Weaving

I've spent a little bit of time in the space this week trying to get a little bit organised. I'm starting to get a little bit panicked about the move. I think that it will take as long to move the stuff from the craft space as it will to move the rest of the house!

So, in the space this week:

-I actually got the iron out & pressed & sorted some fabric.
-Flowers picked and arranged by the smallest.
    -My weaving in progress.
-Vintage coasters for another crafty little plan I'm hatching.

It turns out the problem with the link widget last week was a new server. Let's hope it all goes to plan this week.

  • Fold

    Fold

    Fold, originally uploaded by kootoyoo.

BigPond is down due to the storms in our area. Have managed to upload a pic using fancy phone which I've yet to learn how to use properly.

I'm feeling almosst myself today and looking forward to checking out the creative spaces once we are back online.

The Gambler is pretty important in my life.

I'm notorious for thinking everything will take 20 minutes (including moving house). I really need to get the old life resolved ... quick smart! I have (as per usual) bitten off more than I can chew.

I've given my apologies to the Daylesford Makers Market girls. I'm sorry not to be there but I'm folding before the whole house of cards comes crashing down. Hope you understand and if you're going to Daylesford for the market - have a ball - it promises to be a great event.

    kokeshi

We've left the madness that is pre-Christmas Melbourne behind & we're enjoying the snoozy pace of life by the sea. I've been to a beautiful wedding, slept a lot & sipped a lot & today I lost a couple of hours in this place.

I'd only been to Kyo once before & had no idea it was anywhere near as big as it is. There's so much to love about Kyo. I was tossing up whether to share the vintage Kimono or the Kokeshi.

There's something else really special stored on the digital camera but I can't show you that...I'm working on The Date for that one!

    my pick

This is my pick of the Kokeshi. I hope when I go back it's not gone! Keep away Melbourne girls.

PS: Wish you were here...happy to be a courier for Kokeshi.

  • I'm pretty excited about this...

    I'm pretty excited about this...

& it's coming to the market with me tonight. Details over in the sidebar. Come & say Hi.

I thought you might like to play a little game.

I was thinking of a local blog author when I made this. Do you know who it is? If so read the rules below...

    RULES:
Do NOT comment with their name - you'll only shorten the odds if you do (& I'll delete comments with the answer).
Comment on this post to let me know you're playing with "I'm in".
Schedule a post for 6am Saturday morning with your answer. Just the name is fine.
I'll trawl around on Saturday morning & check out everyone's answers & then...
I'll draw a winner from the correct answers.

If you win...you get one of these little bobbin pendants. They come in a little 20cm x 20cm fabric scrap pouch. It's folded magically to create the pouch & then you just unfold it to reveal your usable fabric. Yep - you can use the pouch in some crafty pursuit. I feel really good about this packaging solution.

    I hope you'll play along.

Edit: How to schedule a post using Blogger.

Look it's easy - you might find it helpful even if you're not playing.

    'tis the season...

    birthday that is!

It's become a bit of a tradition to make her something & I really couldn't justify another bag.

So I've fashioned this little bracelet from some 4 ply bamboo.

It's just a double crochet corkscrew with a pretty silver closure stitched into place.

    I hope she likes it.

    A distraction...
    Slash

    I'm supposed to be stitching.

Instead I allocated myself one hour to work on something new. I've already spent double that. I can't decide if it's one of the cooler things I've made or just a complete disaster.

I hope to have it finished tomorrow either way & let you guys decide.

  • Mark...

    Mark...

    is ready for his trip.

He's arranged a date with this super cute little girl. They're going to play a game of hide & seek while they wait for the Punkdorf.

    Made for craft hope.

T-shirt and pants purchased (handmade) from lovely local shop. Doll made by me.

    Weekend plans...
    Crochet is ace

This I want to do this weekend...

    - paint a bookshelf
    - refashion a couple of bedside lamps
    - finish off some stitchery
    - practice with the sticks

    What I'll probably do...

    - none of the above & just concentrate on this little distraction.

Oh & I might go to the market too.

    Hope your weekend is fabulous.
