    I'm pretty excited about this...

& it's coming to the market with me tonight. Details over in the sidebar. Come & say Hi.

I thought you might like to play a little game.

I was thinking of a local blog author when I made this. Do you know who it is? If so read the rules below...

    RULES:
Do NOT comment with their name - you'll only shorten the odds if you do (& I'll delete comments with the answer).
Comment on this post to let me know you're playing with "I'm in".
Schedule a post for 6am Saturday morning with your answer. Just the name is fine.
I'll trawl around on Saturday morning & check out everyone's answers & then...
I'll draw a winner from the correct answers.

If you win...you get one of these little bobbin pendants. They come in a little 20cm x 20cm fabric scrap pouch. It's folded magically to create the pouch & then you just unfold it to reveal your usable fabric. Yep - you can use the pouch in some crafty pursuit. I feel really good about this packaging solution.

    I hope you'll play along.

Edit: How to schedule a post using Blogger.

Look it's easy - you might find it helpful even if you're not playing.

  • my creative space...

    my creative space...

I'm craving a bit of routine.

I really loved on my desk in 08. It kept me motivated & kept things neat (OK neatish) around the ranch. The management got in the way of the fun but I think I've found the answer.

This year I'm playing my creative space which allows for the roving workspace so many of us enjoy. Details of this weeks offering here.

Each Thursday I'm going to post an image of what's in progress either on my desk, in my spot, on the sofa, desktop, at the kitchen table...whatever. If you'd like to play along & find some new blogs along the way then you just need to post & then pop into my creative space post for the day & paste your post URL into the auto link widget - it will do all the work for us (I hope). What it really means is that all the obligation is taken away... it's an easy game to play & if you're in one week & out the next that's absolutely fine. Everyone will know exactly who has played each week. Sounds simple enough? Keep everything crossed OK.

I'll test to make sure it's working in a second. I've tested & would you believe it - it works. Yip to the pee!

Here's a button if you're into that sort of thing...

    & the code too...

  • On my desk...pencil cup

    On my desk...pencil cup

Wednesday is my big work day. I get all dressed up & go to work in a proper office & do grown up responsible type jobs. I spend my day at a proper grown up desk which is white & clean.

My desk at home is nothing like that. There is a passing parade of interesting bits & pieces crossing it daily. It goes through various stages of tidiness. Sometimes immaculate & sometimes so messy that the slightest bump or over roll with the desk chair sends a pile of papers cascading to the floor. It's not too bad at the moment.

Last year I had Lolly day on a Wednesday which I loved but there are only so many lollies you can consume in a lifetime & I'm trying to cut back.

Anyway, I'm going to play On my desk... on a Wednesday.

Another lovely blogger has said she is going to play along & I'd love you all to join in - it's fun to peek in at other people's stuff "au naturale".

There will be no setting up - but I do reserve the right to move anything that's in the way (like the aforementioned pile of paper). Let me know if you'll have a crack at this with me.

  • On my desk - the fat lady...

On my desk - the fat lady...

    On my desk...

    reminder postcards
the handmade edition of Mankind Mag
    a bit of tiny stitching
    a swizzle ring
    &
    a little fat lady singing

This is the week of endings.

I closed the comments for On my desk...the players over the weekend.

I thank you all for playing along & letting us all have a snoop at your desks. It's been fun.

I've got another fun game to play. A few lovely girls played the teaser last week & I'm hoping you'll all play along with the next one. It is supersonically good!

  • More of the ponies...

    More of the ponies...

I wasn't quite ready to pack away the remaining pony fabric.

Words scrawled by me & then embroidered using two strands of floss. Stem & chain stitches...play to your strengths I say.

I've never upholstered anything in my life so it's absolutely the have a crack make it up as you go along type of thing & really more for decoration than feet which is a bit daft...

Made for someone very special who occasionally needs a little reminder. xx

  • Fancy a trip?...

    Fancy a trip?...
    Plane trip

The Date's playing a golf tournament & he asked if the kids & I wanted to come along.

At first I had a minor breakdown about the kids missing school. The Date raised his eyebrows at me & I gave myself a stern talking to & now we're all on a plane heading for a bit of warmth.

I'm planning to share some of the recent op shop purchases that have made my little op shopping heart skip a beat.

I figured that might get a bit biege for you guys. So...

I thought you might like to take a little trip of your own...around my home town. I'll have a clue accompanying each post this week. You'll need to follow the clues & at the end of the week you'll unscramble to find something that is also close to my heart.

You'll need a notepad & pen beside your mouse (or something more techy if you're opposed to the pen). All the answers are contained within recent posts on each blog. That is I found the answers on the first page of each blog on Friday 11th September. Don't panic if you can't find the answers straight away...it's OK to cheat a little & email/twitter a buddy.

There'll be further instructions with the final clue!

Sound like fun? If you play to the end you'll go into the draw to win a prize (yet to be determined but I promise it will be good).

    CLUE #1
    Skip on over to Claire's.
What it was that was warped in Claire's creative space?
Use the 3rd letter of this word.

  • On indoctrination...

    On indoctrination...

The kid will play netball (& she might enjoy it).

I figured I might as well help the cause & I've made Harriet a coaching aid mobile.

This is exactly the kind of thing you might find on Regretsy or What not to crochet but I'm semi-confident that the netballing freak mother of the child will like it.

  • Play your hand...

    Play your hand...
    Games

One of my favourite ever op shop finds.

I've got some new house plans for these cards. Opped in Balwyn for $1.

OK people, if you've played along this week you need to add a link to the specific post which mentions the word you unscrambled from all the letters you've collected throughout the week.

It doesn't have to be a post you've written especially (but feel free to do that if you like). If you've previously mentioned this word a link to that post will be fine. You just need to make sure you link to the relevant post.

    SAMPLE:
I've collected all my clues & I think the answer is "bluebird". I'm going to add my link like this.

    Kirsty

    http://kootoyoo.blogspot.com/2009/06/bluebird-of-happiness.html

    The winner is Nikki.
Thanks for playing & I'll email you Nikki.

  • The little guy hosts Sunday Supper...

The little guy hosts Sunday Supper...

Sunday Supper hosted by Meet me at Mikes.

The little guy & I have spent the afternoon in the kitchen doing a bit of cooking for school lunches.

I've made cake: one for Brown Owls & one for snacks.

The little guy made raspberry pikelets.

    Raspberry Pikelets
    1 1/2 cups SR flour
    1 Tbs caster sugar
    1 egg beaten
    1 cup of milk

    1/3 bag frozen raspberries

Mix flour & sugar together in a bowl.

Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients.

Add milk & egg to the well & using a wooden spoon gradually beat dry ingredients into the milk & egg.

Once mixed stir through the raspberries.

Heat fry pan, grease lightly & add spoonfuls of the pikelet mix to the pan turning once the bubbles appear...you know the drill.

Cool inside a tea towel on a wire rack. I'm not sure why you do this but my mum did it & my grandma did it so it must be right!

Freeze in a plastic container & add to school lunch boxes.

They thaw beautifully in time for play lunch. We do this for cake & muffins too.

  • Mark...

    is ready for his trip.

He's arranged a date with this super cute little girl. They're going to play a game of hide & seek while they wait for the Punkdorf.

    Made for craft hope.

T-shirt and pants purchased (handmade) from lovely local shop. Doll made by me.

  • 7 things...

    7 things...

I was tagged ages ago by the lovely Chalk & Cheese. I'd decided today was the day & then Arthur's Circus tagged me too.

    • Seven is the number of rings I wear all the time. It's ridiculous for a girl with hands my size & I look like a mafia wife but I don't care.
    • Friday is my favourite day of the week - I run like a demon, drink with friends & fall in a heap.
    • I love mornings best of all. The crispness of the air makes me feel alive.
    • My favourite piece of jewellery is my wedding band. One of my school friends told me it would be & I didn't believe her. I was so in love with my engagement ring I couldn't imagine that a little piece of gold would be more treasured - but it is.
    • I've known the date since I was 12 years old & we've been together for more than half my life.
    • Grant Caroll made me remember than 7 8s are 56. He tortured me with that table in year 4 it's just about the only "times" I can remember - I was always bad at tables.
I'm a details girl see image above...7 pins & 7 spots on the toadstool.

As for tagging other players - if you want to play consider yourself tagged.

  • On my desk...

    On my desk...

Inspired by a really smart guy - I've got a bit more reading material. I love smart people.
My recent purchase of Oye Modern. Expectation exceeded - I'll be going back!
ACEO by this girl which I'm absolutely obsessed with.
Brownie Annual from this lovely girl.

Plus some bookish loveliness, DVD loveliness, boy meets girl loveliness and the promise of some crafty bargains...lots to get through.

More desks in my sidebar. If you decide to play along let me know so I can pop in & say Hi.

♥ It's fine to play heartless.

♥ If you post a heart please add your link in the Link Man like this...
Kirsty (H). I've tried to do this ♥ but it converts it back to text. I'll remind everyone in the post next week.

    Happy ♥ spotting.

Polaroid Diary of a small child [img 12] ...

I love this pic. The little guy was always all about the outfit. Each & every game he played had an accompanying get up & he couldn't play the game without it. Super cute.

  • Deal or no deal...

    Deal or no deal...

OK - we have a start date for the house! We're beginning on January 21.

This was just the kick in the pants I needed. I've done a huge job on the pool room & it's positively gleaming.

I've taken 4 huge bags to the Op Shop.

By now you probably all know just how much I love to play games. I've devised a way to pass on the thrifty love to you guys.

I'm playing deal or no deal. I've got a few things to offer (just as an indication I photographed more than 5 things today). Some of the things are quite large & as such will only be open to Melbourne folk.

I want it - what do I do?
Comment DEAL on this post & the winner will be announced when I post the next "deal" offering.

Once you've won you won't be able to "deal" with me again.

    What's the catch?
The gravy train has got to end sometime & you never know when that will be. Wait too long & you might just miss out.

    Sheep are worldwide.

  • Shoulder blanket...

    Shoulder blanket...
    Crochet Edge TV Blanket

Our house is (hopefully) not going to require much in the way of heating. We're trying not to turn the heating on & have instead been snuggling under blankets in the evenings.

Whilst the granny blankets are excellent, they do make it hard to change the channel on the Teev or play playstation games or hook/stitch/knit (the plot thickens). I've got the little guy & the big girl ahead of me in line but I'm totally making myself one of these!

    Crochet Edge TV Blanket 2

The first shoulder blanket fashioned for the smallest from the same old blanket used for the slippers & 1/2 a ball of Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino which was lounging in the stash. I think it's a left over from when the big girl was granny squaring. I'm feeling pretty good about my $2 outlay at the Op Shop (& there's still enough for 1 more pair of slippers).

I wasn't sure if the yarn was going to make it all the way around the blanket & maths really isn't my strong suit. Luckily my brother in law was at our place, we did a quick calculation & figured I should just scrape it in. Just scrape is right...I think there's about 2 metres left.

Note to self: Figure out a much better, faster, less painful way to make the holes.

  • Vintage Illustration - Day 1...

    Vintage Illustration - Day 1...

the ever lovely Pip is hosting a bit of play-along-fun.

I'm not a serious collector of anything - I just pick up bits & pieces that I like along the way.

I've always had a soft spot for children's books & I was lucky enough to find a copy of The Witty Wizard of Warrandyte a goodly long time ago.

    Illustrated by Armstrong
    Written by Frances Chapman
Published by Boobook productions (would ya believe it Brooki?). I think around the mid 1940s

I think the black & white illustrations in this book would make lovely stitchery. If I get my act together I might have a crack at one tonight at Brown Owls.

  • On the first day of Christmas...

On the first day of Christmas...

my true love sent to me:

    1 spinning santa

He was op shopped last week. He's made in Japan & plays "Santa Claus is coming to town".

Christmas really begins for us on the first of December. The tree goes up & all the decorations come out. The kids & I have made everything lovely & Christmassy today. We've been playing Christmas songs & reading Christmas stories & singing along with our dancing Santa.

I'm planning to post the 12 days of Christmas in the kootoyoo style. Play along if you like. I'd love to take a peek at a bit of holiday fun.
