Sweet Fabric:
market

  • Secrets...

    Secrets...

I had fun at the market today.

Sold a few, took a few orders & got an excellent response to the music boxes and the business cards! (all gone - but they're free afterall).

    Making my day...

    the lark
    twiglet
    aunty cookie
    kiss the birdie
    my poppet
    kids with crayons

    & karen, merilyn & eliza.

  • Making music...

    Making music...

A mixture of vintage, thrifted and lovely Melbourne girls (Lara & Shannon) too.

Music boxes: MP3 ready & traditional windup too.

I'll be the noisy one at Mathilda's tomorrow.

  • Not my moo cards...

    Not my moo cards...

I needed some new cards to take with me to Mathilda's Market this weekend. Apart from the last minute factor I do like to do these things myself anyway.

I'm very pleased with my new kmoo cards.

I've used the beautiful image that this lovely girl took and printed it onto Dimensions Paint Sample cards. These genuinely are recreated - I didn't just go & swipe them from my local 3D store. I purchased them from Reverse Art Truck.

Maybe "white icing" has been renamed/retinted. I think it's a good name for a paint colour myself...

  • Circling...

    Circling...

Those grey circles from the other day turned into scarflets. We'd seen a girl wearing some sort of felt circle creation at the Camby market & I was keen to have a go.

Edit - 18 August 09: I now know that the creator of original piece must be Gaye Abandon.

I've used wool flannel & wool jersey which has all been picked up from the op shop over the last few years.

All in all a lovely day at the market. I really enjoyed myself & chatted to lots of lovely people & got lots of granny squaring done too.

I'll be making more of these. I really like the way they hug your neck & drape so beautifully & I love the little bit of fray.

  • Grey days...

    Grey days...

Working hard in the pool room again today & it's all about grey. My choice of thread for the sewing machine has pretty much limited me to grey, red, black & brown ... it's an interesting challenge.

Lou gave me a little nudge & so I'm going to be at Yarraville Market tomorrow.

I'll have a lot of somethings made of nothings & the crochet will be there too. If you happen to be in the area pop in & say "Hi".

  • Ooops...

    Ooops...

One of my neighbours from childhood had a little boy recently.

I set about making a music box for him just like this one. I stained & printed the fabric. I lovingly stitched & assembled all the elements. Once complete, I imagined how this little gift might be treasured in years to come by a sweet little boy named Harry.

Then, just as I was about to wrap...something made me hesitate. I came downstairs & trawled back through the inbox only to discover the baby's name is HENRY!

So might I suggest that if you're expecting, that Harry is an excellent name for a boy ...

  • Advent...

    Advent...

I've seen some really lovely advent calendars around:

    elsie marley
    maya*made
& whipup have featured some lovely links

This is our advent calendar - ten decorations/days down.

Simple but super exciting for whoever is the colourer for each day & pretty effective.

  • Feeling Festive...

    Feeling Festive...

it's taken me a bit longer than usual this year.

But I've officially caught the Christmas bug. I blame this girl for her constant stream of Christmassy goodness. Every time I hit "next" there's another bit of viral Christmas cheer.

The trees are up & the 2009 decorations were purchased from Mikes & made by Emerge - the kids love them & they are hanging front & centre on each tree.

I've had a crack at making some decorations of my own using wooden discs I purchased from Reverse Art & embroidery floss. I think my favourite is the tree.

  • Getting organised...

    Getting organised...

Lou contacted me a couple of weeks ago to see if I'd have a stall at this market.

    Why not?
    I've got some stock.
Mum & The Smalls have a whole Christmas extravaganza planned, so I'm kid free for the day.

BUT... I can't turn up to a market with planners only - I'll look a bit mateless & slack.

I've been making a few other bits & pieces & I'd love you to come & say Hi if you're in that neck of the woods on Saturday. Details & a link to all the little bits & pieces I'll be selling are in my sidebar.

  • It's 5pm somewhere...

    It's 5pm somewhere...

that's my Dad's favourite saying. The next sentance is "Yep...it's beer o'clock". The Date uses that one too.

I've been making some more swizzle rings today.

If you're going to the shopping shindig tonight you could win yourself one of these.

Another kootoyoo... giveaway going on over here.

  • Tealight hack...

    Tealight hack...

I really quite like the wobbly, spidery lettering...possibly more than the hand stitching.

  • Kitting up...

    Kitting up...

    Tins of Fun. Draw.

I think quite handy for keeping the smalls entertained when you're out & about. I have visions of these being toted out to dinner over the summer.

    Just like this...

Can you tell I'm on the countdown to school finishing? How I love the holidays.
