Sweet Fabric:
red

  • I see red...

    I see red...

I was actually looking for blue stuff for my sister but this DIVINE set of mixing bowls had my name all over them.

Op Shop visits have been few & far between over the summer but I was well rewarded on my sneaky stop over the other day.

I confess that the red kitchen collection is getting a little out of hand but what's a girl to do?

Happy weekend lovely folk. Hoping that the Op Shops are good to you & Camberwell's Trash & Treasure is good to me. I do love a bargain.

PS: If you'd love a bargain of the fabric kind you'd better quick click here. It's the very last day of Aunty Cookie's super sale.

  • The quilt project...

    The quilt project...
    runner

I'm very happily back to Melbourne drizzle. It was lovely & cool on the run this morning.

This is my most recent pair of Asics. I did actually head into Active Feet before I headed out of town & am now sporting a new pair of runners (toe not yet worn through). My shoes were stitched by hand which I thoroughly enjoyed. I used stem stitch, running stitch & chain stitch for the shoe. I chose to french knot the tongue & the ankle cushioning which was very time consuming but very satisfying.

Perhaps not the best time to take off ... I arrived home yesterday morning to a mountain of quilt project blocks. Each of them are wonderful & I am very much looking forward to sharing the completed "quilt" with you. I am horribly behind with the Flickr commenting but you might like to see some of the amazing pieces worked in red that have been sent in here.

If you've been following the project & if you think you might like to see the completed quilt in person ... you might want to mark 23 October in your diary. Details coming soon.

It feels good to be home, I'm looking forward to catching up on all your news & having a chat.

If it weren't for the quilt project I may never have "met" & fallen in love with...

& if you think her inspiration shot looks good. Wait until you see the finished piece.

Lisa has an etsy store too & sells beautiful, beautiful things.

  • French...

    French...
    French

I'm absolutely all about the redwork. Things could be a bit boring around here until it's done but I promise to mix things up a bit.

Colouring in with French Knots is so satisfying (if a little on the slow side). It's touchability is high which is pretty important to me.

I'm a bit worried that my piece will be a bit on the grubby side by the time it all comes together.

Check our quilt project progress here.

  • My creative space...

    My creative space...
    Creative Stitching

I've made a pretty solid start on my square for the quilt project. I can't wait to get home from curtaining so that I can stitch a little more.

I'm really enjoying the slow & steady as I'm feeling there has been so much rushing. Rushing the kids around, rushing to make decisions about the house, rushing to pick things up...you know the drill.

You can visit last weeks favourite space here.

Don't forget to pop in and add your link if you're playing along this week.

OK :: The link isn't working...again! Sorry but this is the perfect opportunity for me to plead with you all to sign up to JS Kit. Then we can all just visit from your name. It will take us straight to your blog if you sign up! Even better if you upload an avatar then I can see at a glance exactly who you are.

Have tested further (& now rushing to curtaining...argh). So...if you comment with your blogger id or JS Kit it's going to work. I'd still love you to consider an avatar if you're so inclined. I really like to know which "Kirsty" just by seeing your little image. It seems this is actually a JS Kit issue. I've logged a help ticket.

    THANKS & sorry.

    Just for me...

Last month I posted the beginnings of this bag.

It's taken me ages, but I'm finally finished.

I love this bag every bit as much as the boomerang bag. Best of all I don't have to fight anyone for it.

I've had a love affair with redwork for a very long time because of this friendship quilt.

The redwork was given to me by Jess.

  • Pop...

    Pop...

    a pincushion badge.

You may have noticed I've become a little pincushion obsessed lately. I'm not sure what it's all about...only time will tell.

I thought of this on my run the other morning & giggled for the remainder of the run. It appeals to my sense of humour. Maybe it might give you a giggle too.

I quite like the idea of the little badge but sadly the fabric isn't "self heal".

This is the loveliest pincushion - ticking several of my boxes.

    1) it's red
    2) it's a toadie &
    3) it's a pincushion.

& she's having a custom order giveaway. Yep...you get to choose - she's super good.

    Op Shop til you drop...

    Thrifted Tuesday hosted by Leah.

I'm fast running out of room for little stools but I just can't resist them. Today I picked up two. This gorgeous red one & a mustardy coloured one which matches the chair perfectly.

    Absolute perfection!

I picked this compendium up today. I'm a little bit beside myself over it. Can you tell?

I'm going to have to start writing more letters.

    Mirabel Softie 1...

    Happy Apple for Mirabel.

I've been fixated on this since my red op shop post.

I know I said I was going to wait until February to start but now I'm ahead of the game & that's always a good place to be.

If you are interested in having a crack at making one of these yourself I have a little PDF over here. It was easy & fun to make. I think I'll make a whole fruit salad!

Oh & I have a new found respect for all you lovely bloggers who post "how to" regularly.

    Fisher Price Happy Apple.

This is one of my favourite & best op shop finds ever!

I didn't have one of these growing up. There wasn't much FP in our toy box, but the few pieces we did have were so well played with & loved.

It makes a gorgeous plinky, plunky sound with it's chime. It makes me smile each & every time I look at it.

I'm pretty sure I got it from that Animal Welfare Op Shop in Canterbury Road, Blackburn (opposite the McDonalds) & I know I paid $1 for it!

Another gorgeous red op shop find I picked up with the kids today can be found here and more Thrifted Tuesday finds (thanks Leah) on the Flickr group.

  • So here I am...

    So here I am...

    in front of you.

She is our pride & joy.

Rescued from the date's parents garage & given a bit of TLC.

She was half full with classic 70's & 80's tunes when we got her. She doesn't have the greatest sound but she looks pretty (red) hot.

Plus, who doesn't need a bit of Racey in their lives?
