Sweet Fabric:
boy meets girl craft

  • About a boy...

    About a boy...

Last year I went to the Melbourne Museum of Printing excursion which these girls organised.

It was such a fabulous & informative day out & I've been busting to have a crack at some "homebrand hack" letterpress ever since.

This is what I'm printing. Of course I don't have the right ink & can't remember what I need...

  • Techie craft...

    Techie craft...

    Freehand embroidery with mouse wire.

I had such a lot of fun with this.

  • Feeling Festive...

    Feeling Festive...

it's taken me a bit longer than usual this year.

But I've officially caught the Christmas bug. I blame this girl for her constant stream of Christmassy goodness. Every time I hit "next" there's another bit of viral Christmas cheer.

The trees are up & the 2009 decorations were purchased from Mikes & made by Emerge - the kids love them & they are hanging front & centre on each tree.

I've had a crack at making some decorations of my own using wooden discs I purchased from Reverse Art & embroidery floss. I think my favourite is the tree.

  • Still spinning...

    Still spinning...

but now it's because I'm doing a little dance about this!

Thank you Design For Mankind for the eye candy which led to me to this.

  • Pop...

    Pop...

    a pincushion badge.

You may have noticed I've become a little pincushion obsessed lately. I'm not sure what it's all about...only time will tell.

I thought of this on my run the other morning & giggled for the remainder of the run. It appeals to my sense of humour. Maybe it might give you a giggle too.

I quite like the idea of the little badge but sadly the fabric isn't "self heal".

This is the loveliest pincushion - ticking several of my boxes.

    1) it's red
    2) it's a toadie &
    3) it's a pincushion.

& she's having a custom order giveaway. Yep...you get to choose - she's super good.

  • I'd love to have these guys as parents...

I'd love to have these guys as parents...

What a life this little baby is destined for!

Last year I saw really cool side sleeper for babies & thought how super cute they were & now I've received this via email from my cousin.

What a lucky baby to have this magnificent side sleeping bed made with such love by both his/her parents. It's absolutely the BEST thing I've ever seen & I'm so proud to be related to these guys.

  • Belt handbag...

    Belt handbag...

It's been a while since I posted anything actually made by me. So today I'm proving that I am a finisher & all those little teasy posts & half baked ideas do actually become something (still working on the knitting but I'm getting there Cathy).

This bag is made by me from entirely Op Shopped materials - no component was purchased new. It is the sort of craft that gives me a huge amount of satisfaction.

The bag was made for someone special as a birthday gift. The rainbow is one of the vintage Kick in the Pants iron on transfers.

I've made a few of these bags now and I have a huge tub full of fabric that has been Opped for exactly this type of project.

  • Boy meets girl - girl gets hurt...

Boy meets girl - girl gets hurt...

The whole boy meets girl craft can be hazardous.

Today, I was crafting up a power tooling, stitchy kind of storm & I've come out the other side a little bashed about.

I caught my finger in my table top drill, cut my thumb using my baby bosch & have a massive blister on my stitchy index finger from stitching with such a fat needle & heavy cord.

I won't be put off. I think I'll step out with the boy again tomorrow.
