It looks just like a baby chick doesn't it? It's not though. It's going to be part of a little embroidered piece I'm working on.
We are all about the colour at the moment...colour for fences...& excitingly colour in the garden too. I'm going out to the nursery with Trace to check out plants this morning.
Mucho excitement.

The decs are popping up all over the place & I'm making some too.
Strips of Liberty at the ready... festive but not too Christmassy so we'll be able to enjoy them all year round.
This is going to be the last Creative Space for 2010. We will fire up again late Jan or early Feb. Take a break from the making...if you like...or don't...but do put your feet up and enjoy some time with your loved ones. Thank you all for making Thursdays such a lovely community day...you're ace!

Remember when I said that I was done with the doily craft? It seems I lied.
I've got a little speedy quick gift idea. Maybe one that might help you guys out in the silly season too. I'm hoping to have a little make along ready for tomorrow.

It's a big huge giant leap for me...I had to put three colours/shades together! You may or may not have noticed that I am generally a one colour girl (or one & white/cream & that really doesn't count). Some people are great with colour & pattern, they splash it about with gay abandon & ALWAYS get it just right. That ain't me...interesting isn't it?
Just a giant mess of chains & ends that I'm hoping will be a little something lovely.

I had the very best of intentions for keeping my hands busy this weekend. Things went haywire, as they are prone to do when you've got kids & I spent most of the weekend behind the steering wheel.
So...the plans will have to wait. Bring on the holidays I say, I'm ready.
Did you know that lovely Melbourne girl Michelle is making some VERY exciting plans of her own? Do you think that you could help her out by taking her super quick little survey? She's ace & it's all about fabric!
I did actually manage to get cracking on the white quilt yesterday. I'm piecing by hand so the pins are out.
This of course got me thinking about pin cushions & magnets. I've given myself permission to deviate for speed craft.
Variety & all that...I need it.
I know that the Link man has been a little moody lately & I think I'll probably change over to someone new next week but I'm having a swag of computer issues of my own. The geriatric laptop is totally on the go slow & I think on her last legs. We've made some purchases & the tech guys will be here on Monday to set us up! Enormously excited about that!
Gorgeous space from last week right here.

I'm already struggling to get the pieces in order & haven't made the small chops yet! I may have bitten off more than I can chew with this one.
The cloud knitting turned into the Huppari during the week & I'm still hooking & sticking up a storm. I do need to pay the sewing machine & the embroidery floss a bit of attention this week though...birthdays & deadlines loom.
Lovely space from last week right here.

The anny blatt angora lambswool blend is quite incredible. I'm not a knitter at all but when I do pick up the sticks by knitting is ridiculously tight. Not with though, she won't tolerate it. Stubborn as I am the yarn refuses to be forced which is quite relaxing actually. It's marshmallow soft & just as light.
Hoping that I don't botch the lot with phase 2.
Look who got up to a bit of boy meets girl craft last week.

It's been an amazing week in my neck of the woods.
Just truly gorgeous things have been happening over the last seven days...
My sister & her family are coming home!!! You can't even imagine how insanely happy this has made me.
An amazing, amazing person sent me THE NECKLACE in the mail! Just a totally inspiring act of generosity.
I've received sweet handwritten notes, posts & lovely, lovely emails from internet mates. You know who you are and I thank you from the very bottom of my heart.
Finally, yesterday for no particular reason Auntie Pat gifted me a box of lambswool/angora Anny Blatt. This is an incredible treat.
All those years ago when I worked at Woolcraft I used to spend far too long "tidying" the Anny Blatt shelves so that I could enjoy the luxury of this yarn. I imagined that one day I'd be able to make something amazing with it.
Totally inspired by Assemblage & Aunty Cookie I've cast on a few stitches.
The Date's a golfer & at the clubhouse sandwiches are cut into little triangles just like these and you order 4, 6 or 8 points. I think that a point just sounds so much more sophisticated than a ham & cheese sambo don't you?
You can bet your bottom dollar that they don't have their filling spilling out of them like my points though.

I really enjoyed the Noticing project and plan to continue it. Maybe quietly on Flickr & maybe here too...we'll see.
I'm back into the swing of all things crafty too. Amazingly, I'm following instructions. Usually, I would have a look, read ahead, cut corners where I could & sort of adapt the instructions to suit my style. I probably wouldn't have bothered with the tracing & just hacked straight into the original pattern...oh horror!
But as I've been charged with testing responsibility I thought I better do it right!
