Sweet Fabric:
holidays

  • A hand...

    A hand...

hands - an ongoing project by me

I had planned a little TTFN post last Friday & then I kind of faded to black without warning...sorry.

It seems I've just slipped quietly into holiday mode...watching trash on the teev with my big girl.

It's been a big year & I'm looking forward to a bit of downtime. I'm going to take a bit of time off to really enjoy the break with the fam.

I might be back with a holiday something or I might not. I'm just going to let the summer of 2010/11 wash over me.

Thank you all for your very valuable contribution to this space during 2010. If you've read, commented, laughed or just nodded along...you're totally ace...it's why I keep showing up & hoping that maybe something in my sometimes-cheaty-sometimes-serious makings will make you want to make something too.

    Have a safe & happy holiday...TTFN.

    xoxo

  • Low on fuel...

    Low on fuel...

    for this space!

The week out was good for my soul but not so good for the crafting.

& I've got a little confession for you...

The taking of photos has been zapping all my creative energy. I'm trying really hard...failing lots...and maybe getting better at the snapping (but still terrible at chatting to random people & taking photos in the street).

It's good to be back but I expect it'll be sporadic until the kids go back to school.

  • The holidays...

    The holidays...

begin today & I've decided to surrender to them (for the first week at least).

I'm taking a little break & will see you in a week or two.

This slide frame pendant was fashioned yesterday. I do love a bit of drama! Such a huge production for such a ridiculous piece of "jewellery".

    See you soon...

  • The sea...

    The sea...
    kokeshi

We've left the madness that is pre-Christmas Melbourne behind & we're enjoying the snoozy pace of life by the sea. I've been to a beautiful wedding, slept a lot & sipped a lot & today I lost a couple of hours in this place.

I'd only been to Kyo once before & had no idea it was anywhere near as big as it is. There's so much to love about Kyo. I was tossing up whether to share the vintage Kimono or the Kokeshi.

There's something else really special stored on the digital camera but I can't show you that...I'm working on The Date for that one!

    my pick

This is my pick of the Kokeshi. I hope when I go back it's not gone! Keep away Melbourne girls.

PS: Wish you were here...happy to be a courier for Kokeshi.

  • Sneaking...

    Sneaking...

    back into town.

The break was nice but I'm a home body that's for sure.

A bit of drama with a small boy caused a LOT of mother/son bonding. He's a heart breaker... & beating me at bejewelled but I've got a week to rectify that.

  • Circuit breaker...

school holidays here...taking a little break...recharging...see you in a while.

  • You can't win 'em all...

    You can't win 'em all...

I've picked up a few bits & pieces at the local Oppies. My favourite finds: Golden Book read along records, more stackers for the collection & gorgeous painted glasses.

The Date & I found a STUNNING red & white vinyl lounge suite at The Mill. I've never seen anything as gorgeous. All the pieces were there: two reclining armchairs, two footstools & a three seater sofa/divan. Unbelievable condition, so cool & now making its way to the super stylish home of someone else! Crikey - you've got to be quick!

Oh well... we would have had trouble fitting it in the car.

  • Thanked...

    Thanked...

    Happy new year
    Happy new year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
    Happy new year
    Happy new year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we dont we might as well lay down and die

During 2008 I've been inspired, changed, shaped, encouraged, befriended, touched, moved & helped by so many of my real life & online friends. I really wanted to take the time to list my desert island blogs for this year...

There are many more (of course) but I wanted to keep this list absolutely "overnight bag" rather than a trunk full of goodness. I do note the top heavy Melbourne girls. I love the locals & it really does prove that "in the flesh" is best.

& the people on this list too.

    Happy New Year.

May the pretty drinks flow tonight & the next year overflow with good stuff.
