Sweet Fabric:
30 days

  • The one where I talk about...

The one where I talk about...

    30 days of the everyday.

First things first, let's get the housekeeping out of the way. Here are the contents of my packages from yesterday.

These beautiful necklaces from Chocolate & Steel. How cute is her receipt - a little paper plane.

Some of Lara's fabric. I'm looking forward to making something special with these.

Finally a not photoworthy little book which I purchased online & I'm pretty excited about.

And now about the 30 days...

I have gained so much from this 30 day gig. I'm pretty much a head down bum up kind of girl & I really thought that having this blog had made me "stop & smell the roses".

The 30 days proved me wrong. I've found myself really taking stock of what & who is around me & valuing & appreciating the hand I'm playing at the moment. It's a good life - even when it feels a bit out of control. I'm so lucky & I'm really focussing on living my life to the full & making the most of every minute.

I read this interview with Kristi Arnold on Design for Mankind during my 30 days & I wanted to share this snippet...

Best advice anyone ever gave you?
K: Don't wait for opportunities to come to you. Seek them out, create your own options. I think a lot of people get stuck in places...waiting for something big to happen...then 10 years pass by and they are still in the same place, wondering what happened.

Some days are boring bills but today was a very good mail day.

We call this the "shaving sink". It's not really a bathroom & not really a powder room.

I have named the quirky little spaces in our house. We have a "utilities cupboard" which is a disused shower & a "service porch" which is the little 1m square area outside the kitchen door. It makes the ranch sound pretty grand doesn't it? I can assure you it's just a 1960 cream brick.

And another thing... the photo on the wall isn't me. I can only dream.

Tuesday is a good day. I do my big Oppy loop - which ties in beautifully with Thrifted Tuesday. Just look at all those bags of good stuff!

My Op Shop pick of the week.

And something I'm kicking myself for not buying. It's a radio - so cute.

the perfect partner for the limes.

I think there is a little life lesson in there for us all. When it's right it's so right.

    Op Shopping everyday.

I try to get into at least one oppy each day. Today "Thrifted Tuesday" I was in exactly the right oppy at exactly the right time.

They are all French & so beautiful to look at.

Something else good to look at is the article on Meet me at Mikes in Living Creatively. Alison is featured too. Yay girls!

my MOST beautiful place on earth...

Isn't it strange how some places make you breathe a little easier & give you a spring in your step.

This little stretch of path along the outer circle railway is just about my favourite place to be. It's lush & green & always a couple of degrees cooler. It's heaven.

I invent ways to be on this path & extend & detour runs to get here.

Is it terrible to want for yourself something you have given with love?

This is the bookshelf of the big girl. It is her pride & joy & always looks lovely. The rest of her room looks pretty much like the bombsite (which is almost clean).

She is beside herself over this dress we bought at Meet me at Mikes.

    The promise of something better...

Angela, Brooke, Rin & Pip should all be able to spot a little piece of themselves in this massive explosion! Wish me luck.

Everyday running...today was NOT an everyday run...it was extra special.

It was dark & raining when I ran.

I ran my hands along sodden hedges & ran through saturated low branches. I splashed in puddles & my Asics were singing...slap...squelch...slap...squelch...slap...squelch.

So, for all those folk who say they don't run because they never see a runner smiling...you should have been in my neck of the woods this morning. You would have seen me...grinning like a mad woman & having the time of my life.
