    Sampler Progress

Things are progressing pretty well with the sampler.

Some of these will certainly be added to my stitching "vocab".

    I love...
    up & down blanket stitch
    pekinese stitch
    feather stitch
    chevron stitch
    & open cretan stitch

with practice I think I'll like...
    cable chain
    knotted buttonhole

This certainly has been slow going. I was unpicking lots & then of course realised that isn't really the aim of the exercise. This isn't about perfect it's about practice.

    Teaching myself

Just goes to show if you stare at something long enough you'll figure it out.

Hooray! What do you think about a cuff edged like this?

I do find the idea of sheets on a line as window furnishings quite charming & I think that these curtains would look gorgeous in right here.

However, I'm after something a bit more permanent for the new house. So today I signed up for a window furnishing course...super excited. If I'm going to do it I want to do it right. Pippa has all the know how & I've promised to be good & do my homework. Hoping I'll be able to make roman blinds for the kids' rooms (at the very least).

I'm pretty keen never to go back to an office job again. I shared this with Aunty Pat recently & she replied...

    "Money saved is money earnt"

    Thinking about this a lot.

    I may regret this ...

I told Lara I was going to put this on Flickr "for her eyes only" to say thanks for being super specially good. BUT this girl said she'd post it on her blog if I did! You know she'd do it too. Safer here where I have some control!

It seems my big fat bogan wedding has been an item of interest to a few lovely folk.

This is me with my "I really (insert expletive) hate you" fake smile. My beautiful friend thinks that they taught fake smiling at my school. One of my very good friends from school is on Melbourne Radio & Trace reckons we have the same fake smile!

Reason for fake smile: Casual, relaxed, natural photography brief. Photographer turned up with an ironing board & tulle & made me do this!

Points to consider when critiquing the event.

    1) I was 23
    2) I was 23
    3) I was 23

    Thanks!

See more bogan shots here & here.

PS: I'd be pretty happy to trot the wedding dress out if anyone wants to host a wedding dress party!

PPS: I'm going to get the wedding video out - that's a real comedy!

    The Melbourne Museum of Printing...

Was the best excursion ever (& that includes the zoo when I was in Prep)!

I loved every minute of the tour & demonstration.

My dad owned a printing business when we were kids & the smells were just like I remember the factory at Commercial Road.

Gem & Pip have some wonderful photos.
