Always up for a challenge - I'm linking my cute with Angela & Mikes to my Thrifted Tuesday Op Shop purchasing.
The cutest Op Shop ever turned up this beauty "tested & found to be working". This night light is so super cute that I couldn't leave without it.
I think a night time drive in that jalopy with the little glasses & drivers-cap attired chap would be quite lovely. Now I've just got to get the date to grow a moustache & find myself a nice hat with a yellow flower & we'll be set.
Betty the Geek chose a great theme for This is... this week.
Surprisingly, I found this quite hard. I show my crafty creations on the blog already & the creations I'm most proud of are emotional & hard to photograph. I think it was the tenderness of the image of the hands cupping the earth that threw me off.
So...my offering this week is a pair of knitting needles I've fashioned myself today. They are made out of broom handles & I've got some rather exciting plans for them. They need a bit of a sand to get them in tip top shape but I'm confident that they are up to the task.
As for my most treasured creations I'm just going to list them:
three wonderful children, a happy marriage, a house filled with love, enduring friendships & unfailing support of & from my family. Luck may have had something to do with all this - but I work hard too.
I was tagged ages ago by the lovely Chalk & Cheese. I'd decided today was the day & then Arthur's Circus tagged me too.
Seven is the number of rings I wear all the time. It's ridiculous for a girl with hands my size & I look like a mafia wife but I don't care.
Friday is my favourite day of the week - I run like a demon, drink with friends & fall in a heap.
I love mornings best of all. The crispness of the air makes me feel alive.
My favourite piece of jewellery is my wedding band. One of my school friends told me it would be & I didn't believe her. I was so in love with my engagement ring I couldn't imagine that a little piece of gold would be more treasured - but it is.
I've known the date since I was 12 years old & we've been together for more than half my life.
Grant Caroll made me remember than 7 8s are 56. He tortured me with that table in year 4 it's just about the only "times" I can remember - I was always bad at tables.
I'm a details girl see image above...7 pins & 7 spots on the toadstool.
As for tagging other players - if you want to play consider yourself tagged.
I should just warn you that I am on my 4th date made Capiroska (read double shot of vodka).
Inability to touch type making me giggle......tragic!
I love Friday - it's the trigger to exhale - friends come over to have a drink & a laugh - it's gorgeous.
I had planned to have a crack at Pip's delicious sounding curry tonight...I'd printed off the recipe & everything...then I got all involved in a bit of Brown Owlishness & instead we ate dip & cheese & a LOT of Red Rock Deli Honey Soy Chips...oh & Vodka...I'm SURE that's in the healthy food pyramid!
First things first, let's get the housekeeping out of the way. Here are the contents of my packages from yesterday.
These beautiful necklaces from Chocolate & Steel. How cute is her receipt - a little paper plane.
Some of Lara's fabric. I'm looking forward to making something special with these.
Finally a not photoworthy little book which I purchased online & I'm pretty excited about.
And now about the 30 days...
I have gained so much from this 30 day gig. I'm pretty much a head down bum up kind of girl & I really thought that having this blog had made me "stop & smell the roses".
The 30 days proved me wrong. I've found myself really taking stock of what & who is around me & valuing & appreciating the hand I'm playing at the moment. It's a good life - even when it feels a bit out of control. I'm so lucky & I'm really focussing on living my life to the full & making the most of every minute.
I read this interview with Kristi Arnold on Design for Mankind during my 30 days & I wanted to share this snippet...
Best advice anyone ever gave you? K: Don't wait for opportunities to come to you. Seek them out, create your own options. I think a lot of people get stuck in places...waiting for something big to happen...then 10 years pass by and they are still in the same place, wondering what happened.
mojito! I hate mojito but my date tonight (& forever) loves them.
Finally tracked down some mint in Queenscliff, I brewed the sugar syrup today & we are all set.
I made a double batch of sugar syrup...I wonder what girly drink I could make with that? Ah yes, the slushie. I'm going to the strawberry farm tomorrow!!!
