It's all about the slow burn projects at my place at the moment. I've got the white quilt, a bit of stitchery, the car crochet & a bit of knitting. There are also quite a few projects that have been put on the back burner waiting for more time.
I think perhaps a few too many things on the go - meaning I'm getting no where fast with any of them...sigh.
FINALLY there's a bit of action on the landscape front.
I had a picture of the type of thing I wanted in my flickr favourites but this is so much better than I could have imagined. I can't wait until the "sashing" is planted. Just hugely exciting really.
I'm going in search of an outdoor table top this arvo & then catching up on some creative spaces from yesterday.
is still filled with the "ask me no questions" craft from last week. It's inching ever closer to completion.
I seem to be ridiculously busy & pre-occupied at the moment. This usually lends itself to a total kitchen rebellion but I'm loving being at the stove at the moment. Last night I made these delicious (& really bad for you) potato stacks & today I'm planning on whipping up some banana bread & white chocolate cookies for the school lunches.
Happy Thursday folks.
Do pop in & add your link if you're playing along this week.
Not really sure if these guys are happy or running for their lives...
I'm a glass half full kind of girl so I'm ... choosing to see them as happy ... choosing happy for me & for my lovely family too ... & choosing a happy weekend for you all.
Mucking around with pencil & paper in a bit of down time from the hook. Doodling, writing, scribbling & trying to figure out how to make my homework look semi decent. I'm not at all comfortable with the pencils. ARGH!

I'm on the home straight with my "car craft" project...just one more side to go.
I now have my fingers firmly crossed that I've hit the mark with this gift.
In other news... I may or may not have had a brainwave in relation to upcoming baby gift. Now I just have to figure out how to actually make the thing!
I had the very best of intentions for keeping my hands busy this weekend. Things went haywire, as they are prone to do when you've got kids & I spent most of the weekend behind the steering wheel.
So...the plans will have to wait. Bring on the holidays I say, I'm ready.
Did you know that lovely Melbourne girl Michelle is making some VERY exciting plans of her own? Do you think that you could help her out by taking her super quick little survey? She's ace & it's all about fabric!
This is the finished mini for The Downunder Doll Quilt Swap organised by Kate.
The centre panel is embroidered using stem, chain stitch & a fair few frenchies too. You don't see much stumpwork about on blogs so I thought I'd break a bit of that out too.
The outside 3D border/quilty bit is based on the scrappy number I picked up at the antique shop.
The kids have athletics today so I won't be around. I'm prepared though, I've been slowly working away on this crochet piece during swimming lessons & music lessons. It just stays in the car & when I get half an hour here & there I've got something to keep me busy.
Lovely space from last week right here.
Have a good day today everyone. I'll catch you next week.
Shall be on the sofa under a granny blanket...mini on my lap...binding like a woman possessed...watching listening to rubbish on the teev if you need anything.
Just a whole lot more stylish with the matching pins. I'm having such a lot of fun with these. Perhaps I need to fashion a bag & hat or maybe a pair of shoes to really set the ensemble off...
I'm on a HUGE learning curve with the new computer. My old laptop is a genuine dinosaur and the new machine really needs a licence to drive! I'm back on the old girl uploading pics & posting. Nothing's saved on the new slick number yet but really the making is more appealing.
It was a bit of a business I can assure you. The lovely flimsy drapery that is Liberty does have its drawbacks. I think I've got is sussed out now though.
I'm sure you can guess where these guys are headed.
This is the result of my speed crafting session yesterday. I was lucky enough to be gifted some Liberty recently. I know, I know - pea green you should be. Stylish cuff to be worn to work, out to lunch or out on the town...
& if the mood for hand piecing strikes - you're good to go.
I wonder if maybe you could wear it inside out & fix your arthritic wrists too?
So, the whole promise post from yesterday has totally retarded me. Instead of breaking out the white I've been to pick up an old (but new to me) desk, cleaned up a bit in the craft room, chatted on the phone, done a bit of knitting, drunk coffee, spoken of all manner of pinkery, been computer shopping & just generally avoided the (white) elephant in the room.
The brain's working overtime on a whole swag of other things I want to be making.
Overworking brain got me thinking about Tania's post & magnolias.
We call them "Promise Trees". Those buds appear while the weather is bleak, they promise to bloom - to bring the spring. They deliver!
Did you know that I'm part of the Down Under Doll Quilt Swap? It was organised an embarrassingly long time ago by the gorgeous Kate.
In true kootoyoo style I've left it & left it & left it some more. Don't get me wrong...there's been plenty of think time & in my head the finished quilt is really, really beautiful. In reality I have one (yep 1) block pieced and another cut out. Not a fabulous start eh?
No more new anythings until this piece is finished so I'm going to share my in progress shots. If you catch me wandering off course do you reckon you'd prompt me with a comment like "Hey Kirst, haven't seen much on the white quilt front...what's up with that?".
----- In other news... -----
I've been included in Kidspots Top 50 Bloggers which is hugely flattering. Considering this is a "just for fun" gig for me & there are heaps of professional writer types included I'm quite chuffed. Thanks a bunch Kidspot.
There's the opportunity there to win a holiday to Dunk Island which is pretty cool so maybe check out the list, see if you're favourites are there. If so - click to vote.
I've got to say that I think that the craft blog community is pretty under represented on the list. So many beautiful, thoughtful, productive, positive, creative women I love who haven't been represented.
A big hearty thanks to those of you who have voted for me & saved me from left-on-the-shelf embarrassment. Muchly appreciated. x
If you give people the opportunity...the answer will usually be "yes".
I was recently asked a question by a nearly 8 year old friend.
She handed me an envelope & said "Can you make these Kirst?"
I opened the envelope, it contained one piece of royal blue origami paper & one piece of royal blue paper with white stars. There was also a rough sketch of the PJs she wanted made from said 'fabric samples'. The stars were to be for the top & the pants were to be plain blue.
Of course the answer was "yes" & here they are. I did add a rider "for your birthday Millie...OK?". I'm not entirely sure how they'll go down as a birthday gift but I'll keep you posted.
Way too much time invested into something you can purchase for next to nix at Target in my opinion but they certainly are made to order. The big girl drew & prepared the stars which were machine appliqued and also made a drawstring bag for the jarms. She saved me at least another hour & her work is most profesh.
PS: To the lovely people who said "yes" to my question yesterday. THANK YOU! I didn't expect such a fabulous response or such an amazing list of blogs. I will make up a proper link list so that everyone can easily navigate around your recommendations. It will be a fabulous resource for us all I think. x
