I took this pic last week as part of the photo a day (which I've totally dropped the ball on). I have been taking daily pics but not the suburban shots I wanted to...sorry Megan.

I wanted to say a big giant thank you to all you lovely folk who left comments & even posted about my spool holder. I'm so grateful for the giant springboard that this space, the commenters, the blogs I visit & the casual passers by provide. You keep me wanting to try harder, be better & make more.

    Happy new year

May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
    Happy new year

May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we dont we might as well lay down and die

During 2008 I've been inspired, changed, shaped, encouraged, befriended, touched, moved & helped by so many of my real life & online friends. I really wanted to take the time to list my desert island blogs for this year...

There are many more (of course) but I wanted to keep this list absolutely "overnight bag" rather than a trunk full of goodness. I do note the top heavy Melbourne girls. I love the locals & it really does prove that "in the flesh" is best.

& the people on this list too.

    Happy New Year.

May the pretty drinks flow tonight & the next year overflow with good stuff.

  • Framing...

    Framing...

    with feeling.

I've been slowly collecting from Etsy for the new ranch (if it ever starts). I've been buying from artists I "know". Please Sir had some good stuff to say on this subject.

I purchased these from Bricolagelife. I love them & today on the run I picked up this old cupboard door from the hard rubbish.

I like it, I think that the frame honours the creator. I'm pretty confident she'll be happy with my choice.

I'm just trying to figure out how to "adhere" them without spoiling the beautiful images.

I grew up in a house named "Lonamba".
    Named houses make me smile.
My favourites are cream brick & weatherboard with loopy writing.
Beach houses have the very best names.

I wonder what the owners of these homes used as their inspiration? Some are obviously street names but the others? I'm imagining the discussion around the lino dining table deciding what to name the new 5 room 1960s cream brick. It's a good image.

This is...what reminds me of my mum

what reminds me of my mum.

She is our Faraway Tree. She grows in the far corner of our block & when the house is built this is the view I will wake up to every morning.

    A bit about her:

She has deep roots in this little patch of dirt.
She is getting on a bit but ...
She is still as beautiful as ever.
    She is supportive.
    She can weather any storm.
She can bend in the wind & not snap.
    She is forgiving.
    Occasionally she drops her bundle.
    She is fun.
Her limbs are a haven for children.
    She is strong.
    She happily reinvents herself.
    She is a protector.
    She relishes a challenge.
    She encourages an adventurous spirit.
She is a survivor (& in fact a thriver).
    Her canopy is far reaching.
    She is shelter.
    She is home.
She is much loved by me.

    Happy Mother's Day.

    SNAPits...

I've been enjoying my snippets posts but in the interests of using the camera more & really appreciating the beautiful aspects of my everyday life I'm embarking on a new adventure.

SNAPits from my week will feature every Saturday. Maybe there will be a bit-O-banter & maybe there won't. Feel free to join in if you like.

  • Spot reserved...

    Spot reserved...

Do you have a favourite place to sit? This is mine - a little unconventional I know, but it's all mine.

When my brother, sister & I were growing up there was definitely an IT spot.

It was the cane chair closest to the TV. The chair was awfully uncomfortable & had exposed nails that caught on your clothes & your hair. BUT... it had tier 1 status because in the days before remotes arms reach was vitally important.

It was only your spot until you had to get up to go to the loo or grab a gingernut biscuit from the bickie barrel. As soon as you took your first step someone was waiting to nab the "top spot". These chair wars usually ended in tears & a bit of blood. So, genius children that we were we came up with "spot reserved". If you declared this prior to leaving your seat no-one could assume your position & it was a no go zone until you returned. I love the politics between siblings!

No-one wants my spot now - but just for old time's sake..."spot reserved". Don't anybody pinch my patch of floor (or my pretty drink).

    VARIED
    Snippets from my week

    It's been an eventful week.

    * Warm, cold, healthy, sick, tired, energised - you get the picture.

    * I'm having a crack at some different stuff, some organic stuff, some old stuff & some boy meets girl stuff.

    * I've been totally motivated by Anna Laura, Loobylu & Hop Skip Jump.

    * I've been out & about with the Polaroid.

    * I've covered myself in gold paint (by accident).

    * I've been looked after by the universe which landed me in exactly the right Op Shop at exactly the right time. Tune in Tuesday to see the results.

    * I've had some crazy mad giggling type of fun running in the rain with this girl. I'm not sure she enjoyed the experience as much as I did.

    FRUSTRATING
    Snippets from my week

I had a grand plan for some polaroid shots. I dug out the Barbie camera & then spent too much time tracking down film. I loaded the film & the blasted camera just took shot after shot after shot. It seems the smallest performed her own renegade style of maintenance on the camera & now it's fritzed!

My week has been dominated by the need for a polaroid camera. When I haven't been at work I've been trawling Op Shop after Op Shop.

I've got several crafty projects that I want to finish off but my obsessive nature won't allow me to focus on anything else.

I'll just have to be patient.

    REWARDING
    Snippets from my week.

Last week Jhoanna & Pip both made predictions/suggestions for what lay ahead. I've gone with rewarding because it was easier & I'm feeling a bit slack.

-Being able to help out some gorgeous friends both with blogs & without...rewarding.

-Making time for 5 new beginnings - I'm addicted to beginnings...rewarding.

-Being challenged (& stepping up) by this lovely soul. She's given me so many crafty nudges over the last 12 months and it has meant lots of new beginnings...rewarding.

-Being reminded that when life gets in the way of the things you love it's OK to say "no"...rewarding

-Pushing myself on my Friday run when I really couldn't be fagged...rewarding.
